I just came across My Language Exchange, which seems to be a decent penpal/online messaging exchange site for French, English, Spanish and German and in fact any language where two or more people sign up to speak it.  I would imagine that you can use it for children with close supervision.  It is unique because it offers lesson plans to follow, so that there is some structure to the conversation, which seems very sensible.  Has anyone used it?
