Benefiting from words that work in both languages

Benefiting from words that work in both languages

James was learning his spelling words yesterday and immediately pronounced "immense" with a French accent, and wondered out loud why there was a French word in his spelling list!  I tried to explain to him that one of the benefits of learning French is that he will know so many more English words than his friends.   Does anyone have a handy list of some of the most common words used in both English and French to make the point?
