The French school James and Scott go to has just established a library. The boys don't get to pick a book out, but nevertheless every week some kind volunteer picks a book out for each boy and they get to bring it home in a little blue folder. Generally speaking the books are just right: not too hard, not too easy, and great little stories. Sometimes I get the boys to read them together. Tonight I read it to them, helping them with the vocabulary along the way. It was such a pleasure, noticing them paying attention, trying to figure out the meanings, laughing at the little jokes. I love the fact that I have two new books to read every week, without any hassle of trying to choose. And we have the added bonus as well of being able to point out every week those French words that are similar to English ones: increasing their French and English vocabulary together. It's a win-win-win-win situation.
